My Vagina is Goopy

I was recently told by someone that Title Goes Here is not a queer book, despite me being a very queer individual. (Also, if you didn't know, I just released a book. Check it out on the projects page if you want.) At first, this seemed to make sense from a "separating the art from the artist" perspective, so I acquiesced in the conversation.

But after pondering the question further, I disagree. I think Title Goes Here is a very queer work that, among other things, encapsulates the frustrations of someone who finds themselves surrounded by a society that they will never fully fit into, even if they wanted to. This is a fundamentally queer experience that is exactly what Title Goes Here is going for.

Sure, it's abstracted a bit beyond what you may typically find in an LGBTQ+ section at a bookstore, but "queer" is a far more expansive term than it can be given credit for. Here's a great article outlining a bit on that if you want to read deeper down this specific topic.

But perhaps you still aren't convinced. I've written poetry that is very specific to my gender identity before, but I wanted to write a poem specifically for those who think "queer" literature must be explicitly about one's gender identity or sexuality.

So, without further ado, I present my poem that meets that narrow definition:

My Vagina is Goopy

My vagina is very goopy

schmoopy schmoopy doopy

I must be careful not to get poopy

in it or else it will go all poofy
